My Magazine Description

This is a description of what I what my magazine to represent.

After consideration I have decided to use FORTE as my magazine name, I thought this was better than 'Off The Wall' because it isn't as long and it stands out more, it isn't really a conventional name for a magazine, but when looking into the meaning of the word it means to "play loudly" which I thought would really represent my magazine well.

Phootshoot and Design Ideas

These particular images are inspirational to me. The layout of each of these photos are minimalist and simple with the sole intention of concentrating on the artist or object captured.
I like the use of monochrome and colour, and with that the colour is minimal on the page. I would like to use this effect when I start constructing my music magazine.
On a few of the photos the background has a white/ grey lighting behind the main image, I think this is a good effect and the main image stands out more. I will also keep this in mind when I start capturing photos for my magazine.
Furthermore I like the use of props, the photos that I have chosen below are good examples of what I think look really good and attractive.

Masthead Designs

Whilst using Photoshop CS5 I played around with different fonts and brushes to create various masthead designs for my music magazine.
Each of the designs are my interpretations of music and how the mastheads depict the pop/rock ambiance. Particularly with the last design as the imaging consists of a pixalated guitar.
However I think that the third design would be more suitable for a magazine, it isn't too distracting but it is still looks good. I think I will most likely choose this design for my masthead.

Music Magazine - Reader Profile

This is my reader profile that I created from the answers I collected from my survey analysis.
I felt these images really portrayed the unanimity of those participants that completed the survey and therefore potential readers.

This is a Powerpoint presentation on the collection of result given to my survey.
The survey was intended to be asked so I could see what type of target audience I would be creating a music magazine for and what specific features the magazine should have so that it would appeal to them.

The Talk - College Magazine

These are my first magazine projects I created in Photoshop CS5.
The aim of this task was to design a magazine that would appeal to college students, bearing in mind it must be appropriate for the target audience. In this case it would be teenagers aged between 15-19

My Magazine Inspirations

Similar to the CD Cover presentation, I also looked at a few magazine front covers and made a few opinions on what I thought they represented and how they were appealing.

Pink Album, writing techniques

 (Original)

When looking at Pink's album cover she has the effect of a black and white background and the pink coloured writing of her name in the foreground. Although the background can be seen through the writing.
I attempt to use this effect by using a different Pink picture and trying to get the colouring similar and and still see the background.

Using Adobe Photoshop CS5, I first changed the adjustments of this photo to black and white, and idividually added 4 text boxes for each letter. Filled each letter to pink and increased the size. To turn the 'i' by free transforming the letter there is a double ended arrow in the corner that allows me rotate the letter.
To create the effect so I can see the background I had to individually double click on their layers and change the 'Blend mode' to Multiply.

Once finished this is the final product!

Album Covers Interpretation

I made this on Powerpoint and it just shows different CD covers that I thought were interesting to myself .
I choose different genres of music so I could get a wider variety to compare between.

Angelina Jolie, Colour edit.

 BEFORE

Whilst using Adobe Photoshop CS5.1

I liked to use this effect because I can highlight area's that I prefer to enhance, making a photo such as this really stand out.

Check out my first ever CD Cover and Back!!

This was my first Media AS project, creating a front and back CD cover, to introduce us using Photoshop CS5.
To start this i decided to make my target audience as Pop/ Rock, so I took my inspiration from Rolling Stones.
I took photos of my sister with different patterns on her lips and using different objects which created contrast.
I ended up choosing this two pictures because i thought they looked the best, within Photoshop I added text and a picture of a barcode.
The skills that I learnt in Photoshop were changing the opacity, the contrast and brightness of a photo as well as the highlights and shadows.
